On Friday, July 4, 2025 in Brașov, at the Bio Carpathia headquarters, a first joint meeting of the national network of organic farms that are part of the “OrganicClimateNET“ network took place. Inter-Bio, project coordinator for Romania presented details about this European agricultural project that supports ecological and climate-friendly agricultural practices. The project provides farmers with access to knowledge, carbon footprint assessment tools and educational materials, with a focus on organic farming and emission reduction. The discussions continued to focus on new practices in the context of climate change and the benefits that the OrganicClimateNET project brings to farmers in the organic sector. Among the practices with the best results obtained by the farmers present were: crop rotation, soil and biodiversity protection, no till, but also the use of precision and digital transformation tools. The discussions also touched on the promotion of organic farming through other relevant Inter-Bio projects, in particular consultancy services and market development initiatives or the “Organic Advice Network” projects, the Enterprise Europe programme Network (proiect PROSME) și programul European Digital Hubs (proiectul Wallachia eHub).

“We currently have two operational centers for 22 farmers regionally divided into the northern and southern parts of the country and we are happy about the growing interest of farmers in these centers. A large part of them were present in Brasov, coming especially to get to know each other and exchange ideas. So we can say that we have stepped on the right foot. Farmers shared their business profile and knowledge related to new climate change adaptation practices and considered different options. They will participate in many activities in the country and abroad. We will hold a meeting with technology experts to discuss precision farming solutions for organic farming.
We will also plan separate meetings in the two centers, each of them having different profiles of farmers and pedoclimatic conditions. We are delighted that all the farmers present have signed up or are considering registering as consultants in the parallel Organic Advice Network, knowing that they have a lot of knowledge to share,” said Costin Lianu, president of Inter-Bio and national coordinator of the pilot farms and the AKIS organic consulting network.

The need for a structure to ensure the representativeness of farmers in the project was discussed, presenting Dacian Badea from Silvania Bio as a national ambassador for both centers, supported by other representative farmers in the south and in the north. Mr. Badea shared information about Silvania Bio, an organic farm that processes and sells products through local supermarkets and stores, as an example of an integrated farm. Finally, Ms. Rachel Fisher, expert consultant in organic farming from North Rhine-Westphalia gave an overview of organic farming practices in Germany. The group agreed to organize future meetings in different locations, including Iasi, Salaj, Prahova County, Tulcea and discussed the possibility of creating a private label for organic products in Romania.
