OrganicClimateNET attended the knowledge transfer workshop “Tools and ways of measuring agroecological interventions through experiments”, which took place at Agriplanta 2024 in Fundulea/Călărași. New experiments and practices in agroecology developed by international experts were presented. The experiments presented aim to measure indicators of soil, biodiversity, social, economic, technological, crop rotation, soil carbon sequestration that will be measured. Measurements should be channeled only for organic certified field crops.
During the event, the field cultivation areas of the National Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (INCDA Fundulea) were also visited, where we had the opportunity to initiate preliminary discussions on the methodologies related to these measurements and their impact on cliamte change.
„Quality of soil is an important factor for these type of measurements and we took samples of soil for deeper observervation of biological contents.” – Inter-Bio
Even this is exrecise at an exploratary phase, it was noticed the interest of farmers and researchers in measuring new indicators, which should have a methodology well documented by research institutions. It also became visible, the interest of the ministry to participate in the event through Mr. Viorel Morărescu, ambassador of organic agriculture in Romania.
Based on our clusters approach (Inter-Bio beeing a cluster consortium ), it was reitarated that the a dissemantion of the new practices should have a practical, business oriented value which will give the participating farmers and researchers the ability to assert themselves as pioneers in agroecology. The farmers are on the opinion that OrganicClimateNET project will give additional arguments for organic farmers to move the agenda to climate change mitigation.
