The OrganicClimateNET project has officially completed its first year, marking a significant milestone in our mission to promote sustainable and climate-resilient organic farming. Over the past year, we have achieved remarkable progress, engaged with key stakeholders, and fostered awareness about organic climate farming. Let’s take a look at some of the key moments that shaped our journey.

Kick-Off Meeting in Fulda – A Strong Start

The journey of OrganicClimateNET began with a dynamic Kick-Off Meeting (KOM) in Fulda in 2024. This event set the stage for collaboration among partners, aligning our shared vision for climate-resilient organic farming. A highlight of the meeting was the opportunity to visit two organic farms, where we witnessed firsthand the innovative and sustainable practices being implemented by organic farmers. This experience reinforced our commitment to supporting agricultural practices that mitigate climate change while enhancing soil health and biodiversity.

Organic Climate Month – Raising Awareness

One of our standout initiatives this year was the Organic Climate Month, held in September as a dedicated thematic month to explore innovative practices in Organic Climate Farming. Through a series of educational campaigns, social media engagement, and expert articles, we highlighted the vital role organic farming plays in climate mitigation and adaptation. This campaign successfully reached a wide audience, inspiring farmers, policymakers, and consumers to embrace sustainable agricultural solutions.

Engaging in Key Agricultural Events Across Europe

OrganicClimateNET was present at several important events throughout the year, ensuring our message reached diverse audiences. To mention some:

  • Organic Food Iberia (Spain): Our partners from ECOVALIA, AGROBIO and INNOVARUM connected with organic producers and retailers, fostering discussions on the future of organic climate farming.
  • Agriplanta 2024 (Fundulea/Călărași, Romania): INTERBIO attended this key agricultural fair, which provided a platform to showcase our project’s goals and engage with stakeholders from the farming sector.
  • L’agricoltura biologica per affrontare il cambiamento climatico. FiBL presented an overview on (EU) Climate Farming (Adaptation, Mitigation) and practical implications on the ground with experiences from EU-Projects. And in this context also introduced the OCN-Project.
  • Hearing at the Italian Senate’s Commission on Agriculture, Industry, and Commerce: FIRAB contributed to the ‘fact-finding investigation’ on “Climate Change Effects on Agriculture: Monitoring and Tools for Adaptation.” This provided an opportunity to present key insights on organic farming’s role in climate resilience at a high-level policymaking forum.

Looking Ahead: Project Materials and Future Initiatives

As we celebrate our one-year anniversary, we are excited to share that the first project materials have been developed! These resources aim to provide farmers, policymakers, and educators with practical tools to implement organic climate farming practices.

This is just the beginning! Many exciting activities, events, and new insights are on the horizon for OrganicClimateNET. Stay tuned and follow our journey as we continue working towards a more sustainable and climate-resilient future for agriculture.

Together, we can make a difference!
