Since launching in February 2024, OrganicClimateNET has made significant strides in advancing its mission to promote sustainable and climate-resilient organic farming across Europe. Through collaborative efforts with stakeholders, farmers, and research institutions, the project is creating a comprehensive ecosystem of knowledge, tools, and practical solutions for organic climate agriculture.

A Growing Repository of Knowledge

The project has established the Organic Farm Knowledge platform as its primary knowledge repository, creating a lasting resource for the organic farming community. To date, more than 70 comprehensive materials have been collected and made freely available online, covering the full spectrum of climate-smart and carbon farming practices. These resources include practical leaflets and guidelines, practice abstracts, calculation tools, and engaging video content—all designed to empower stakeholders with actionable knowledge for sustainable farming decisions.

The materials provide crucial information on rewarding mechanisms and incentives available for climate-friendly practices, helping farmers navigate the evolving landscape of climate agriculture support. This comprehensive collection addresses both immediate practical needs and longer-term strategic planning for farm resilience.

Platform Enhancements for Better Accessibility

Recognizing the diverse linguistic landscape of European agriculture, OrganicClimateNET has significantly enhanced the Organic Farm Knowledge platform’s functionality. Language support has been expanded to include Finnish, Romanian, and Portuguese, making knowledge accessible to more farming communities across Europe.

The platform has also been enriched with crucial new thematic areas including Water Management, Manure Management, and Organic Insights and Policies. These additions directly respond to emerging agricultural challenges related to climate change and evolving policy frameworks. An improved platform structure and expanded advisory services directory further enhance user experience, making it easier for practitioners to find the specific guidance they need.

Looking Ahead: Adaptation and Innovation

The next phase of OrganicClimateNET focuses on tailoring knowledge to regional realities. Materials will be translated and adapted to local conditions based on network feedback, ensuring relevance and applicability across diverse farming contexts. These adapted resources will be tested by network farmers, providing valuable insights into their practical effectiveness.

The project is also committed to filling identified knowledge gaps through the creation of new materials. Upcoming resources will feature farmer voices prominently through video testimonials and comprehensive factsheets that bridge scientific research with on-farm experience. This approach ensures that knowledge development remains grounded in practical reality while maintaining scientific rigor.

Through these efforts, OrganicClimateNET continues to build a robust foundation for the future of sustainable organic agriculture—one that empowers farmers with the knowledge and tools needed to thrive in a changing climate while contributing to environmental resilience and food security across Europe.
